Prologue

The hostel room was quiet except for the sound of a fan spinning overhead.

Lavanya Patil lay sprawled across her bed, staring at her phone screen.

After spending the entire weekend reading, she had finally finished her favorite novel.

The Possessive Rathores.

For a few seconds, she simply stared at the ending.

Then she threw her phone onto the mattress.

"What the hell was that?!"

She groaned loudly.

Everyone got their happy ending.

Rudra Rathore got Siya Sharma.

The Rathore family got their perfect family.

The villains were punished.

The hero and heroine lived happily ever after.

But Vanya Singh?

The girl lost everything.

Lavanya rolled her eyes.

"Seriously?"

She picked up her phone again and looked at Vanya's picture.

"Why were you even running after Rudra Rathore?"

She shook her head in disbelief.

If she were Vanya, she would never waste her life chasing a man.

Especially someone like Rudra Rathore.

Cold.

Possessive.

Emotionally unavailable.

Not her type at all.

"If I were you, I would've made all those Rathore brothers my brothers."

She thought for a moment.

Then immediately changed her mind.

"No. Forget that."

A snort escaped her.

"I would've ignored them exactly the way they ignored Vanya."

That sounded much better.

Lavanya had never believed in love.

And she definitely didn't believe in marriage.

Growing up, she had seen enough.

Her parents arguing.

Neighbors fighting.

Couples constantly complaining about each other.

Everywhere she looked, marriage seemed like a lifetime subscription to stress.

No thank you.

She already had a perfect plan for her future.

Study hard.

Get a good job.

Become financially independent.

Adopt a baby.

Live peacefully.

No husband.

No romance.

No drama.

Just her and her future child.

"Perfect."

Satisfied with her life plan, she switched off her phone and fell asleep.

Completely unaware that fate was listening.

The next morning.

Lavanya's eyes flew open.

She looked at the clock.

Then looked again.

Her soul nearly left her body.

"I'M LATE!"

She jumped out of bed.

Within minutes she was dressed, carrying her bag and running toward college.

The streets were crowded.

People rushed everywhere.

Vehicles filled the roads.

Lavanya checked the time.

"I'm dead."

She hurried across the road.

A loud horn blasted.

Everything happened too fast.

A speeding vehicle.

Bright headlights.

Screaming brakes.

Pain.

Then darkness.

When Lavanya opened her eyes again, she expected a hospital.

Instead, she found herself in an unfamiliar bedroom.

The room was huge.

Luxurious.

Elegant.

Nothing like her hostel room.

"What..."

She sat up slowly.

Her head hurt.

Her body felt strange.

But before she could think further, a maid entered.

"Miss Vanya, would you like some breakfast?"

Lavanya froze.

Vanya?

She stared at the woman.

The maid smiled sadly.

"Please eat something, Miss. It's been five days since Mr. and Mrs. Singh passed away."

Lavanya blinked.

Once.

Twice.

Then the maid left.

The room became silent.

Five days since...

Mr. and Mrs. Singh passed away?

Her heart began beating faster.

"No..."

A terrifying possibility entered her mind.

For the next few hours, Lavanya searched the room.

She found photographs.

Documents.

A diary.

Every single thing pointed toward one impossible truth.

Vanya Singh.

This was Vanya Singh's room.

"No, no, no..."

She rushed toward the mirror.

The reflection staring back at her wasn't Lavanya Patil.

It was Vanya Singh.

The villainess of The Possessive Rathores.

Her legs nearly gave out.

"This can't be happening."

Then came the memories.

A loving father.

A caring mother.

Their deaths.

Loneliness.

Pain.

And finally—

Vanya's entire life.

The memories crashed into her mind like a tidal wave.

Hours later, Lavanya sat motionless on the bed.

The shock had finally worn off.

And now another realization hit her.

A very important one.

According to the novel timeline...

It had been five days since Raghav and Maya Singh died.

Which meant—

Her eyes widened.

"In two days..."

In exactly two days, Vikram Rathore would arrive.

The head of the Rathore family.

The man who would take Vanya to Rathore Mansion.

The event that started the entire novel.

Lavanya immediately shook her head.

"No."

Absolutely not.

She already knew what happened in that mansion.

The misunderstandings.

The drama.

The heartbreak.

The possessive Rathores.

The original plot.

"No way."

She pointed at herself in the mirror.

"This time, Vanya Singh is staying far away from the Rathores."

The more she thought about it, the more confident she became.

She didn't need them.

She didn't need Rudra Rathore.

She didn't need the original story.

And she definitely wasn't interested in becoming part of some love triangle.

In two days, when Vikram Rathore arrived...

She would refuse.

Simple.

A perfect plan.

Unfortunately for Lavanya, fate had a habit of laughing at perfect plans.

And the Rathores were not known for accepting rejection.
